As per the new initiative under smart city project, all the properties in Bengaluru that have PID or Property Identification Number will soon get a digital id. The city roads will also get digital id. This move aims to avoid duplication of property numbers as it is a GPS enabled system. The properties will also get a digital card that has the new digital number.
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) in its official release on Thursday said that the digital numbers will be given to properties so as to prevent duplication of property numbers and simplify the tax collection system. It also helps the BBMP in attending to any complaint raised by the property owner as identifying the exact spot becomes easier through GPS system.
“The BBMP will shortly issue guidelines to public on how to obtain the eight number digital card,” said MK Gunashekar, chairperson, taxation and finance standing committee. The eight digit alphanumeric identity will serve as a standardized digital address number. Each property will be tagged to GPS, and hence enabling it to be located through Google maps.
