JSW Group that has acquired nearly 4300 acres of land at Salboni for setting up various units under its paints, cement and steel and power business has found that it will need only about 1500 acres of land for setting up these units. The remaining amount or 2500 acres had been identified by the group as surplus for which it has no possible use as of now.
JSW Group is now in talks with West Bengal government to set up an industrial park on the surplus 2500 acres of land at Salboni.
We are expanding our cement plant and also planning to set up a colour coated and galvanising line at Salboni under JSW Steel and a paints unit,” Parth Jindal MD , JSW Cement said while speaking at the launch of the product from their new cement unit at Salboni.
JSW group is also in talks with a global energy major to set up a solar power unit on this site. Also, the company is planning to take up cultivation of some cash crops that would open up the possibility of offering livelihood and employment opportunity to a total of around 300 people. In this context, it would do well to note that JSW group had promised some 488 jobs to land losers in Salboni.
Jindal said state government has not asked them to return the surplus land and instead has urged the company to look at possibilities of making further investments here.
