Supreme Court asks Unitech to pay 39 homebuyers litigation costs of Rs80,000 each.


The Supreme Court today directed Unitech to pay litigation costs to 39 flat buyers of Rs 80,000 each  in its Gurugram housing project over delay in delivery of flats.

Unitech had previously paid the principal amount and of 14 percent interest to flat buyers in April for the delay under the Vistas project in Gurugram.The flats were booked in 2008 and project was supposed to be handed over to buyers in 2012.

In another real estate case, 70 homebuyers of Amrapali Silicon City moved the Supreme Court to challenge the insolvency proceedings.

NCLT had accepted insolvency plea by Bank of Baroda against Amrapali Silicon City in sector 76 Noida.

The project was to be completed in 2013. It has 5000 towers and civil work has yet not started in few towers.
